Child protection systems or services, also known as child welfare systems, are government systems that are supposed to help vulnerable children who have experienced (or are at risk of) abuse, neglect or harm, or whose parents can’t or won’t look after them (as judged by themselves or by someone else). The Disability Royal Commission has looked into some of the harms currently being done to First Nations families and people with disability through this system.
