Issues discussed at public hearings

The Disability Royal Commission is holding a series of public hearings on particular issues in locations across Australia. At public hearings, witnesses are called to answer questions under oath in a formal setting. Some of the topics covered so far in public hearings are; the education system, discrimination in healthcare, experiences of people with disability during COVID-19, and restrictive practices.

You can find a full list of hearings held so far, with Auslan interpreted videos and full transcripts here.

At PWDA, we’ve also been live-tweeting public hearings. You may find our Twitter threads useful if you would like rights-based commentary on the hearings, or summarised versions of the hearings so far.
